Information about the institute
International Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism of FSBEI VO "Volga Region GUFKSiT" is an educational and scientific structural subdivision of the University, implementing educational programmes of higher education.
History of creation of the Institute. On August 1, 2013 the Faculty of Service and Tourism is created by reorganisation of the Faculty of Physical Education, Sports, Service and Tourism. On 1 September 2021 the International Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism is created on the basis of the Faculty of Service and Tourism.
At present the Institute is headed by the director candidate of pedagogical sciences Rezeda Khadiullina .
The main strategic goal of the Institute is to further strengthen its leading position in the field of training qualified personnel in the field of tourism, service and hospitality, sports management.
The era of digitalisation determines the need to train specialists in the digital industry, in the 2023-2024 academic year we are recruiting applicants in the direction of "Information Systems and Technologies".
For the first time in the 2023-2024 academic year, we will recruit applicants to the college in two areas of secondary vocational education: "Hospitality Management" and "Waiter-Bartender".
STAFFING
The Institute unites 5 departments, including: 3 graduate departments (Department of Service and Tourism, Department of Economics and Management in Sport, Department of Information Systems, Technologies and Cybersport), 2 general education departments (Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines, Department of Foreign Languages and Linguistics).
The educational process is carried out by qualified teaching staff.
Full-time teachers are experts in various fields: tourism, management, WorldSkills, MBA programmes, members of FUMO, competitions of various levels.

LANGUAGE TRAINING
- A distinctive feature of the Institute's educational programmes is the in-depth study of foreign languages. Mastery of a foreign language in professional activity is one of the determining factors of a specialist's success.
- A number of academic disciplines are taught in English: "Organisation of catering in service activity", "Marketing in service", "Computer technologies in service activity", "Economics of hotel enterprise", "Restaurant and hotel service", "Technologies and organisation of service at the enterprises of hospitality sphere", "Marketing in tourism industry" and others.
- Language courses and preparation for TOEFL and DELF qualification tests are additionally conducted at the Centre for Further Education with the participation of teachers of the Department of Foreign Language and Linguistics.
- The level of students' foreign language skills is growing, with some of the Institute's graduates successfully defending their final qualification papers in English.
INTERNSHIP ORGANISATION. EMPLOYMENT. CO-OPERATION WITH SPECIALISED STATE STRUCTURAL INSTITUTIONS
- Our University has a rich infrastructure: a teaching and laboratory building with modern technical equipment, modern sports facilities, its own hotel "Regatta" on the basis of the Rowing Centre - these are not only places where the educational and training process takes place, but they are our internship bases and places of employment for students.
- Our students get practical skills, and then they are employed in specialised state institutions: State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan for Tourism, Committee for Tourism Development, Ministry of Sport of the Republic of Tatarstan, Ministry of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan.
- To the specialized Associations: restaurateurs and hoteliers of the Republic of Tatarstan, hotels in Kazan and the Republic of Tatarstan; travel agencies of the Republic of Tatarstan, sanatorium and resort institutions.
- Students and graduates work in hotels, tour operator companies, restaurants, as well as at sports facilities, institutions of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Russian Federation.
FOREIGN SPEAKERS, FOREIGN INTERNSHIPS. INTERNATIONAL CO-OPERATION
- It is very important for us to attract foreign speakers, and we are systematically working in this direction. The speakers involved are experts in international service standards, heads of travel companies, and sports management specialists.
- The Institute maintains close ties with employers and the business community on internships and internships abroad; it actively develops international relations.
- Partnership relations have been established and joint projects are being implemented to organise and conduct internships for students, foreign internships in Turkey (TUI | FUN&SUN company).
SPECIALISED COMPETENCE CENTRE OF THE YOUNG PROFESSIONALS CHAMPIONSHIP (WORLDSKILLS RUSSIA)
- With the support of the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan on Tourism in 2020-2021 academic year the University received the status of a specialised centre for competences T42 "Tour Operator Activity" and T41 "Travel Agency Activity", which secured for the Institute the right to hold the regional stage of the Championship "Young Professionals" (WorldSkills Russia) in these competences.
- In 2021 and in 2022 we won silver medals in the National Championship of Professional Skills "Young Professionals" (WorldSkills Russia) in the competence T42 "Tour Operator Activity" under the guidance of the Head of the Department of Service and Tourism Vesloguzova M.
STUDENT LIFE
- Students successfully participate in competitions of different levels, their works are highly appreciated in the following competitions: Republican competitions "Journey to the origins", "Tourism Leader", "Fifty best innovative ideas for the Republic of Tatarstan", "Our Tatarstan", Competition for the Prize of the Mayor of Kazan, Competition for the Prize of the Government of the Russian Federation in the field of tourism and others.
