Rectors of Russian sports universities, as well as Yang Fei, Director of the International Bureau of Chengdu Sports University, and Farid Mansurov, Vice-Rector for Sports Work at the Azerbaijan Sports Academy, visited Povolzhsky University on the occasion of the university's 50th anniversary.
First Vice-Rector of Volga University Azat Sharapov and Vice-Rector for scientific work and international activities of the university Andrey Nazarenko conducted an excursion to the facilities.
As part of the visit program the delegation visited the Rowing Sports Center. Azat Sharapov familiarized the guests with the capabilities of the sports facility of the university. He told the guests that the sports facility is designed for training activities in rowing and canoeing for students of Volga Region University of Sport and Tourism, national teams of Russia, Tatarstan and children's and youth sports school for rowing sports; holding sports competitions of Russian and international levels, sports and entertainment events, providing physical culture and recreational services to the population.
The facility has a rowing pool, a specialized hall with rowing ergometers and a grandstand.
The sports and rehabilitation complex includes a 25-meter swimming pool with 5 lanes, a universal gym with parquet flooring, a medical and sanitary unit of the Research Institute of Physical Education and Sports, a training center “Hotel ‘Regata’”.
Gulnara Yanysheva, Head of the Medical and Sanitary Unit of the Research Institute of Physical Education and Sports, told about the high-tech equipment of the clinical and diagnostic laboratory and testing center. The guests familiarized themselves with the activity of physiotherapy, laser therapy, ultrasound examination rooms, as well as tested the barocamera and double stabilization platform. The delegation was most impressed by the cryochamber.
“Our cryochamber is a development of Russian scientists. It is used to carry out health-improving procedures at a temperature of minus 130 degrees Celsius. Thanks to the procedure, a person experiences a short-term euphoria and quickly and effectively strengthens the body,” said Gulnara Yanysheva.
Then the guests visited the training and sports complex “Tennis Academy”. Vitaly Afanasiev, the director of the facility, gave an excursion for the guests: he familiarized them with the facilities and demonstrated the equipment of the facility. He noted that there are 27 courts at the facility, including the central one, where all-Russian and international competitions are held.
The delegation also got acquainted with the activities of the Fijital Center of the Volga Region University. The guests appreciated the computer halls with game consoles and virtual reality zones.
Elvira Rumyantseva, Director of the Institute of Further Education, met the guests at the Center for the Development of Human Resources Potential of the Tourism Industry. The delegation inspected modern classrooms designed for online and offline lectures, and also tested the capabilities of the recording studio.
“The Center was established in 2023 as part of the national project “Tourism and Hospitality Industry”. For two years we have held advanced training courses for representatives of 26 regions of Russia on the program “Management of tourist territories development: project approach” For 2025 we have already approved six programs, and the federal project “Improvement of management in tourism” has been extended until 2030”, - said Elvira Rumyantseva.
At the end of the tour the rectors got acquainted with the scientific activities of the Volga Region University and visited the laboratories of the research institute.
“The main task of the Research Institute is to analyze various functional indicators of athletes, which is carried out by the analytical laboratory. And it also draws up individual and team protocols based on the results of passing all checks,” emphasized Alexey Zverev, Director of the Research Institute.
