Anastasia Zhukova, Director of the Samara Executive Directorate of the "Russia – Country of Sports" forum, visited the Volga Region University of Sports and Tourism, accompanied by Igor Golovin, Head of the Department of Information, Analytical Support, and International Activities at the Ministry of Sport of Tatarstan. Adelia Pavlova, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Digital Transformation, led the guests on a tour of the academic and laboratory building. She also introduced the guests to the history of the Volga Region University.
Anastasia Zhukova was most interested in the university's sports facilities, so the tour began with the gyms. Adelia Pavlova spoke about the activities of the Department of Adaptive Physical Education and noted that students actively participate in "Volunteer Saturday" and organize sports and recreational activities for children with disabilities.
Particular attention was paid to students' extracurricular activities. The guests visited the concert hall, the "Winged Bars" student sports club, the media center, and the eSports club. The Vice Rector of the University of Sports explained that 42 sports teams are currently actively developing at the university.
The university's academic and research activities were also highlighted. Anastasia Zhukova visited the Academic Council Hall and the Information Resource Center, where over 50,000 books are freely available to students. She also toured the classrooms and lecture halls. She was also intrigued by the Universiade Museum's long-standing sports heritage: medals from international competitions, uniforms, magazines, and mascots.
Finally, Anastasia Zhukova visited the university's sports facilities—the Badminton Center and the Tennis Academy—and learned about their infrastructure.
"We're planning a major event in Samara—the 'Russia – a Sports Power' forum. That's why I came to hospitable Kazan to get acquainted with its sports infrastructure and learn from my colleagues, including those at Volga Region University," shared Anastasia Zhukova.
