The Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism became a participant of the “80 Days to Lunch” campaign, during which higher and specialized secondary educational institutions of Kazan hold a ceremonial relay race to pass the Victory Flame to each other. 
The action was organized by the Committee for Children and Youth Affairs of the Executive Committee of Kazan from February 19 to May 9, timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory and the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland.

The Volga Region University of Sports took over the baton from the Tupolev Kazan National Research Technical University. The lamp was installed near the Wall of Memory to the soldiers who heroically died on the fields of the Special Military Operation.

Artur Rozanov, Head of the Department of Creative and Image Projects of the Committee for Children and Youth Affairs of the Executive Committee of Kazan Executive Committee, noted that 11 more universities of Kazan will welcome the Victory Flame.

- Volga region University is the sixth to receive the baton of the student Victory Flame. The purpose of the action is to immortalize the memory of the feats of our heroes who stood at the cost of their lives to defend the freedom and independence of our state. Each of us is proud to be in a country where there is a clear sky above our heads - all this is thanks to the defenders of the Motherland. I would like to express my deep gratitude not only to our ancestors who 80 years ago defended our Fatherland, but also to those heroes who today defend the honor and freedom of our multinational Russia. Thank you to the students for their active life position and desire to remember the events of the past century, - emphasized Artur Rozanov.

The lamp with the Victory Flame was delivered from KNITU-KAI by Christina Giniyatova, Head of Youth Policy Department, Dilia Gasimova, Head of Youth Work Department, Georgy Timoshenko, Head of the search team “Book of Memory” of KAI. On behalf of Volga Region University she was received by the activists of the student association “Patriot”.

Kristina Giniyatova noted that the transfer of the Victory Flame is a symbol of unity of the universities of Tatarstan, as well as the memory of those who did not return from the Great Patriotic War and those guys who now on the fields of the Special Military Operation give their lives for a peaceful sky and clear sun.

- This action is insanely important for each of us. It reminds us of our responsibility for today's youth and the importance of preserving history, which we should not allow to be rewritten,” said Ksenia Emelyanova, head of the volunteer association, on behalf of the students of Volga Region University.

At the end of the solemn rally, Maxim Karpov, representative of the Victory Volunteers movement, noted that the Victory Flame is not only a symbol of remembrance of the past, but also a beacon to a bright future.

The Victory Flame will stay at Volga University for several days, and then the baton will be taken over by Kazan Agrarian University.
