The career guidance program for students, conducted by the Department of Economics and Sports Management of Volga Region University, has started. Every Wednesday since the beginning of February, first-year students undergo orientation practice - they visit specialized organizations, where they learn details about the functional responsibilities of employees and meet with managers.

- The peculiarity of the excursions is that we choose completely different destinations each week. Students visit Kazan City Hall, the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as sports schools of the city. Thanks to this, students gain new knowledge and experience, get acquainted with possible places of work,” said Dinara Nasibullina, lecturer of the Department of Economics and Management in Sport.

In parallel with the excursions there is a series of lectures with experts in management for students studying in sports management, management in the sports industry, as well as master's students in the field of management in physical culture and sports.

- The main objective of these events is to help students decide on a direction, so that they can make up their minds from the first year, understand what they will do after graduation, and see their future profession from different angles. We plan to hold a panel discussion with current students and graduates of the university who have reached the heights of professional activity. We want to introduce the children to the head of a children's sports school, sports manager, executive director of one of the federations,” Gulnaz Ageyeva, Associate Professor of the Department of Economics and Sports Management at Volga Region University, shared her future plans.

She noted that previously internships and lectures were held separately, but this year it was decided to combine them to make the career guidance program more effective.

The first lecture of the cycle took place this Wednesday - the students visited Kazan City Hall, where Aliya Zagidullina, Chairperson of the Committee for Children and Youth Affairs, told the students about the possibility of internships and practicums.

- We were given a tour and told about internship opportunities in places with which the mayor's office cooperates, as well as about various projects for young people. I was most interested in two areas: volunteering and helping at a home for orphans. I would definitely like to attend such excursions and lectures in the future. I believe that this is an interesting and useful experience for students, - shared student Valeria Novichkova.

Next Wednesday - March 12, students will have a tour to the Committee of Physical Culture and Sports of the Executive Committee of Kazan.
