The winners and runners-up of the 11th Physical Education Olympiad of the Volga Region University of Sport and Tourism were announced last weekend. The competition for future university entrants was held at the university and its facilities. The students were to meet not only theoretical questions in the form of tests, but also practical skills - standards in gymnastics, indoor football, volleyball, basketball, swimming and athletics.

The winners and runners-up were awarded on the stage of the Volga Region State University Concert Hall during the Open Day.

Veronica Antonova became the winner among 23 competitors in the open class, with Aigul Sharafutdinova taking silver and Karina Savelieva taking bronze.

Vladislav Klimentiev took victory in the "open class" among 25 participants, second place was taken by Rinat Gazizulin, bronze medal went to Denis Zhukov.

According to Sergey Pavlov, head of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Track and Field Athletics and Rowing Sports, chairman of the competition organizing committee, this is a great opportunity for competitors who are planning to enter the Volga Region University to test their skills and abilities in practice. "In addition, the boys and girls had a chance to see with their own eyes the facilities of the university, the living and study conditions of the students of our university and meet the teachers of the different departments," stressed Sergei Pavlov. - The absolute winners will get extra points towards their USE results when they enter the university.
