On November 30, the Academy of Sport hockey team flew to Sochi for the first ever Champions Cup of the Student Hockey League. The tournament was held for five days, eight teams took part in it, which in different years became winners and prize-winners of the championship and championship of the SHL. The group stage matches ended on 3 December.
On the first of December, on the All-Russian Hockey Day, Kazan team met with the Moscow team RUS GTSOLIFK and won a landslide victory with a score of 8:3.
The second game for the Cup was no less productive. We scored five goals against UralGUFK and took another plus two points into the piggy bank.
In the third game, they fought with "Derzhava" for reaching the final from the group from the first position. It turned out to be a real battle, but, unfortunately, not in our favor. Final score of the meeting 4:1
The decisive match of the Champions Cup took place on 4 December. The Academy of Sport team competed with the MADI team for the bronze of the tournament and successfully completed the goal!
We outplayed and scored five goals against the opponents.
According to the results of the tournament, Ivan Khrunin (#78) took the title of "Best Forward", and the hockey team "Academy of Sport" became the bronze medalist of the Champions Cup SHL 2022.
