A busy autumn for university students. Last weekend, hikers and outdoor enthusiasts explored new places for future hikes in the neighbouring republic of Udmurtia. Every year the friendly family of the hiking club gets bigger and the number of events is growing, therefore, new geolocations are needed.
As it was supposed before, the outlined route was new and untrodden. All participants were kept in suspense from the beginning to the end of the journey. If earlier each outing had been accompanied by an experienced hiker who had been here before, this time the leaders had to make quick and responsible decisions. It is worth noting that before each hike, the organizers prepare a route map, mark bivouac spots and calculate parking time. But it often happens that the planned route in theory differs from the practical one, and in this case, the word is already on the experience and ingenuity of the leaders.
After three hours of train travel a group of tourists was already on site, and the starting point was the Sosnovka railway station. The route was situated not far from the settlements of Kizner, Stary Tryk and Yagul. Amazing beauty of Udmurt forests, mixed woods and wide fields. Light morning frost and the sun peeking out from under grey clouds gave a special melancholy mood to the autumn nature. The first camping area for the night was situated on the bank of the Sinyarka river; our organizers love beautiful places and like to please their participants with beautiful landscapes. That's why the second night was also arranged near the river, this time by the Liuga River.
"Why do you go camping?" Every hiker has probably been asked this question. "For the beautiful views and the sounds of the guitar flying off into the starry sky following the sparks by the fire...probably for that," most answer. But it's true, we have the same company and preferences are similar... These 50 kilometres passed quietly, it seems. Nature is distracting and soothing, and the way back home is always quicker.
Artur Maksutov, a third-year student of the Tourism field, one of the organizers of the hike, appreciated the new route: "Nature in Udmurtia seems more wild and mysterious, but on the other hand it is intriguing. While in Tatarstan we have been to certain places several times, in Udmurtia we followed a new trail. Perhaps, that is the main difference. If you're hiking a new trail, you realize that you have to make all decisions faster and more balanced, sometimes it's not easy to be a leader. Hiking in Udmurtia is still planned, but most likely next year. The location is definitely worth exploring as much as possible. Freshmen were very good, they did very well on the route. Despite the fact that the trek was a little bit more difficult than usual, nobody ever complained of tiredness. I think they would have done as much more.
