On August 10, the largest competition among the strongest athletes of Russia, which includes students of the Volga Region University of Physical Culture, started, - The first All-Russian Spartakiad in summer sports in 2022. About 13 thousand people from all over the country take part in the competition at 12 sports facilities in various regions.
36 talented athletes of the Volga Region University will compete in 5 sports: taekwondo, rugby-7 (men and women), swimming, badminton, gymnastics, and will compete for the title of the best in their discipline. Also, the facilities of the Volga Region University - the Palace of Water Sports (August 21-24), the Gymnastics Center (August 23-24 and September 24 - October 1) and the Rowing Sports Center (August 26-28) - will become a venue for the All-Russian Spartakiad.
"An event of this level appeared due to the fact that today Russia cannot participate in international competitions. They will be held in 39 sports, 13 thousand participants. In terms of numbers, this Spartakiad is comparable to the Summer Olympic Games. Only the task was not to localize everything in one city. The lion's share of all events will be held in Moscow, but Kazan has become the second city in terms of the number of competitions. Tournaments in 11 sports will be held here," Sports Minister Vladimir Leonov said at a briefing at the Government House of Tatarstan.
The Spartakiad is held according to the program of the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad of 2024 in Paris (France), including in sports unusual for the Olympics - baseball and softball, included in the program of the Games of the XXXIV Olympiad of 2028 in Los Angeles (USA).
"The upcoming competitions will be the main sporting event of the year in our country. The Spartakiad will bring together leading athletes, talented and ambitious youth, specialists and experts, all fans of physical culture and sports in Russia. Before our eyes, for the first time in history, All-Russian competitions will be held on a global scale. Modern sports facilities located throughout the country from the Kaliningrad Region to the Kamchatka Territory will host tournaments in 39 sports. We will all witness the performances of the strongest athletes of Russia, who occupy leading positions in their sports in the international arena," emphasizes the Minister of Sports of Russia Oleg Matytsin.
