A working meeting with heads of universities and research organizations operating in the Republic of Tatarstan was held at the Rowing Sports Center of the Volga Region University.

The guests included heads of twelve higher education institutions, including Kazan Federal University, Kazan Aviation Institute, Kazan State Institute of Culture, Kazan State Agrarian University, Russian University of Cooperation, Kazan National Research Technological University, Kazan State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, University of Management "TISBI", Kazan State Medical University, Kazan Innovative University named after V.G. Timiryasov, Innopolis University, Kazan State Academy of Veterinary Medicine named after N.E. Bauman, as well as representatives of the Kazan Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Vice-Rector for Research and International Activities of the Volga Region University Andrey Nazarenko spoke about the university's development areas: science, tourism, phygital sports, as well as the path of athletes from childhood to student years. He separately noted the features of the institutes of the Volga Region University and the implementation of national projects.

The guests visited the Medical and Sanitary Department of the Research Institute of the Volga Region University - the tour was conducted by the heads Gulnara Yanysheva and Rustam Yakubov. The meeting participants saw a steam chamber and a cryosauna, inspected the swimming pool and gym, as well as the biochemical laboratory, learned about the features of conducting psychophysiological tests and got acquainted with the simulators for determining the predisposition to a certain sport. After the tour, the heads of the universities held a meeting where they discussed the possibilities of joint work in scientific activities.

‘I have visited the medical and sanitary unit of the Research Institute of Volga University before, but each time I admire the equipment, the importance of the work carried out here and the professionalism of the staff. I see that there is great potential for further co-operation with other universities, for example, in terms of medical research and development of innovative equipment,’ Albert Gilmutdinov, Assistant to the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan, summarised the results of the meeting.
