The Volga Region University women's basketball team played a home tour of the Russian Railways Student League from October 4 to 6. There was no time to warm up in the first meeting - the opponents were the bronze medalists of the 2024 Belov League - "ChSU - Atlanta", as a result - 77:89 in favor of the team from Cheboksary.

‘Student teams are regularly renewed, we have changed almost half of the squad, so the model of the game has changed too, - said the coach of the team Vladimir Knyazev. - All teams were strong and fought to the last! CSU is a strong opponent, but we are going not to be afraid of names. The girls showed incredible character and dedication during every second of the tourney. That will be our standout of the season!’.

The next two days were more successful for Povolzhsky: two confident victories over Perm and Voronezh.

‘We were able to show a good game thanks to our coaches: Vladimir Knyazev and Efim Stepanov built a very effective working process. And, of course, there was a great desire to win. Despite the score difference, we always want to catch up and overtake the opponent. I believe that we need to play until the last second of the match!’ - Alina Sabirova, the team's attacking defender, shared, who became the most effective in terms of points scored in the last two games.

The next round of the championship will be held on 8 - 9 November in Minsk, where the rivals of Povolzhsky will be St. Petersburg ‘ITMO’ and the home team - BC ‘Minsk’.
