Today we will learn about the life of the Basin family.
The head of the family - Igor Basin - is a swimming coach, who for forty years of work has brought up more than one generation of champions. Igor Anatolievich died at the end of 2023, but his favourite business is successfully and with great inspiration continued by his children - Victoria and Dmitry. Each of them first trained under their father's guidance, and then could not imagine further life without swimming.
To be trained by your own father - how does it feel?
Victoria: It is a big responsibility, both from my father's side and mine. In such a situation, there are high expectations regarding sports results, and their absence is perceived painfully. Dad tried to be unbiased, my classmates for a long time did not know that our coach was my father, in the pool I called him Igor Anatolievich. But there were advantages - from an early age I travelled with my dad to competitions and training camps all over the country.
Dmitry: the division was always clear - in the pool it was the coach, not my father. Although, of course, there were some disadvantages - other children could sleep through a training session and not go to it, and I could not have such "privileges".
