The awarding of the best rowers at the end of the season took place at the Rowing Centre of the Volga Region University. Athletes and coaches who showed high results were congratulated by the Minister of Sport of the Republic of Tatarstan Vladimir Leonov and his first deputy Khalil Shaikhutdinov, as well as Chairman of the Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Kazan Linar Garipov. Rector of Volga Region University Rafis Burganov also recognised the rowers' success .
"The Republic allocates large funds and resources to support sports, development and arrangement of facilities. The Rowing Sports Center has the most modern exercise machines and swimming pools. All of us - the federal and republican ministries of sports, the city of Kazan and the Volga Region University - are fulfilling the common task of developing sports in Russia. The results show that we are moving in the right direction," shared Rafis Burganov.
Among the outstanding rowers are representatives ofVolga region University. Letters of thanks from the Minister of Sport of the Republic of Tatarstan were awarded to graduates Polina Mukhorcheva and Albina Safiullina, as well as postgraduate student Alexandra Konstantinova. Students Dilyara Saburova, Darya Shinkareva, Nikita Filaretov and Amir Shigapov also showed high results in the sports season.
‘We pay increased attention to rowing - we put our heart and soul into it to create the best conditions for training athletes. I believe that thanks to modern swimming pools and a rowing channel, the results will only improve every year,’ said Vladimir Leonov. - A big tournament - the BRICS Games - was held here in the summer. We received high praise both for the organisation of the tournament as a whole and for the performance of the Tatarstan national team. In such conditions, the athletes are motivated to further develop’.
