Teams from the Stavropol Territory and the Ulyanovsk Region started to pump up their knowledge in the sphere of tourism and hospitality at the Volga Region University. For the third year already, the Center for the Development of Human Resources Potential of the Tourism Industry at the Institute of Further Education has been conducting professional retraining courses for regional teams aimed at the development of domestic tourism.
This year ten regions became participants of the program “Formation of interconnected regional tourist products”. Experts of the tourism industry and employees of the Department of Service and Tourism of the Volga Region University will conduct five educational modules, and at the end of the training the participants will defend their final projects.
It should be reminded that the educational programs are implemented within the framework of the federal project “Improvement of Management in Tourism” and the national project “Tourism and Hospitality Industry”.
During the first module, Oksana Artemenko, Chairman of the Public Council under the Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan on Tourism, senior lecturer of the Department of Service and Tourism, and Irina Khomutova, accredited consultant at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, discussed with the students the structure of the tourist product, spatial analysis of the tourist territory, as well as marketing analysis tools.
Christina Petrova, General Director of the Association for Tourism and Hospitality Industry Development of the Ulyanovsk region, noted that the information during the training was easy and understandable, and the speakers were easy to understand, which in her opinion is very important.
- The training left not just excellent, but excellent impressions, because every minute here and the information shared with us by the speakers is invaluable. There are ideas that we are ready to apply tomorrow, and there are those that made us rethink our past experience. I think that this training will benefit our region,” emphasized Kristina Petrova.
She said that in the Ulyanovsk region representatives of business and government try to have a close dialog, and it was for this purpose that the Association of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Development was established in the region. The organization unites businesses from different tourism spheres: hotels, restaurants and show objects to be able to communicate with the authorities, create a unified image of the region and attract tourists.
- Within the team, the final project is currently undergoing a heated discussion: we choose a topic, share our impressions of the training and decide what is important for our region. All the team members are deeply involved in the training, you can see their desire to create something good. I think we will have a great defense of the final project.
In general, all the trainees are very friendly and open - they are ready to share their experience and help each other. We have already exchanged contacts with a tour operator from the Stavropol region and invited each other to events. In our free time we learn more about each other and our regions. This is a new book for us, which we are leafing through with interest. There is a desire to visit the region of our colleagues,” added Kristina Petrova.
