Academy-Kazan volleyball team finished the season in the top eight of the highest league “A” of the Russian championship.
In the last round of the final stage Maxim Maximov's wards lost away to Barnaul “University” with the same final numbers on the scoreboard - 3:1.
On the first day the score by games was 25:14, 21:25, 25:21, 25:13, on the second day - 25:18, 21:25, 25:18, 25:21.
As a result, the Academicians finished their tenth season in the top league “A” in the eighth place. As head coach Maxim Maximov noted, the main goal for the season has been accomplished.
- We had a great season, I am absolutely satisfied with it. The main task was to get into the top eight, we coped with it. And as soon as we accomplished this task at least, we started a planned rotation of players for our teams - Zenit, second and youth teams, so that the guys were gaining game practice, - emphasized the head coach of VC “Academy-Kazan”. - I consider the season successful. The guys played well, grew in general in reception, defense and attack. In serving - still leaves much to be desired, but this is an individual element, a lot depends on the player. But the teamwork was interesting. So I am satisfied with the season.
Recall that the volleyball team “Academy-Kazan” was created on the basis of the Volga Region Academy of Sports and Tourism in 2012 as a farm team of Zenit Kazan.
In the season 2012/2013 “Academy-Kazan” played in the top league “B” of the Russian championship. In spring 2015, as part of the transition tournament for the right to play in the top league “A”, the team took first place and received the right to play in the top league “A”.
