The new academic year has started - in honour of Knowledge Day, Volga Region University held a festive rally. At the beginning of the ceremony, college students raised the flags of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tatarstan and Volga Region University.
‘The first-year students passed a difficult competition and got into the well-coordinated team of Volga University. This year we will celebrate together the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Volgograd Institute of Physical Culture branch in Kazan. Back then, 200 students were admitted to the first year,’ Rector Rafis Burganov said to the students. - The Volga Region University is a legacy of the 2013 Summer Universiade, when all the best of what was built was given to our university so that you could study, play sports and develop professionally. In coaching and tourism it is important to be able to communicate, unite and lead. This is what you can learn here, and later, I hope, you will become the core of the university’.
A total of 1,297 people enrolled at Volga University this year, of which - 157 will be studying at the college, 888 at the undergraduate level and 252 at the master's level.
‘Your studentship begins in the sports capital of Russia. We are waiting for you with new knowledge and experience to make Kazan even sportier. Today, 62% of residents regularly engage in physical culture. This is our common merit - we show by example that sport prolongs life and strengthens health,’ said Linar Garipov, Chairman of the Physical Culture and Sports Committee of the Kazan Executive Committee.
Alsu Zheltyakova, Director of the College of Volga Region University, also congratulated the students, their parents and administration in Russian and Tatar.
‘In the summer, the first-year students coped well with the first difficult tests - they successfully passed the state final attestation, passed the selection process and became part of the big family of Povolzhsky University,’ Alsu Zheltyakova congratulated the incoming students.
