The Volga Region University Internship and Employment Department held a Career Marathon as part of the February Healthy Environment. Students learned about current trends in the labor market and received recommendations for advancing their professional careers, and also met with representatives of the university's partner organizations, who offered internship and work placements.
- In a sporty university, even career events can be “a bit sporty”. A marathon is a long-distance race, our event also turned out to be quite long and voluminous - five organizations and four student training areas were represented. This is a new format for us, we hope that it was interesting and useful, - said Sabina Gizatulina, Head of Practical Training and Employment Department.
The marathon was opened by a lecture “PRO-career: where to start in the world of professional development” given by Robert Galiullin, a specialist of the HR Department of the Alabuga Special Economic Zone. He told about the company's corporate culture and career development opportunities, which interested the students, especially the organization of sports competitions among employees. The university students wanted to visit the company as part of the excursion. Also thanks to the lecture they learned how to start a career for a young specialist.
The speakers of the next lecture “Practical system of personality analysis, interpretation of results to the portrait of a vacancy” were Alsu Sabirova, Deputy General Director for HR of Riviera Hotel Complex, and Margarita Sergeeva, HR Manager. They touched upon the psychological aspect of personality in building a career through psychogeometry.
- We paid attention to the rules and tips for job interviews using our company as an example. We played a game, thanks to which the students chose a geometric figure that suited them, and presented current vacancies in our company for each personality type. Thanks to the lecture students were able to determine their psychotype, on the basis of which they will build communication at interviews, - said the speaker Alsu Sabirova. - We are actively cooperating with universities in Kazan and are waiting for students to join us as employees, especially in the summer. They can come for vacancies as instructors, administrative consultants, waiters and cooks.
Then there was a lecture “Career map of a fitness trainer”, which was conducted by Nikita Agalakov, fitness manager of Bright Fit club. He spoke about the three components of a successful career of a trainer: the number of trainings, client base and training, noting the importance of taking courses to improve the trainer's category. The students learned about career prospects in fitness clubs: vertical and horizontal, as well as the ways of employment of trainers.
- I was very interested in this lecture. Nikita Agalakov told me about the internal management system and career opportunities in fitness. I want to try myself in this sphere and get an internship with him. I plan to develop in the management sphere, maybe even as the head of a fitness club. I believe that this is a very interesting field, - shared Sofia Kostousova, a student of management in the sports industry.
Idil Tabiev, Head of the Early Medical Rehabilitation Department of the Interregional Clinical and Diagnostic Center, also addressed the students. He spoke in detail about the work of the rehabilitation department, where patients with severe diseases, such as stroke and spinal cord paralysis, are helped to recover. The students watched several videos with stories of rehabilitation of patients. Idil Tabiev noted the relevance of the rehabilitation field and emphasized that highly qualified specialists in this field will always be in demand in the labor market.
- I believe that the most important thing is the desire to work. I want to convey to students the idea that in order to achieve their goals it is necessary to work, improve skills, knowledge and abilities. We are discussing areas of cooperation with Volga University, one of which is writing and defense of scientific papers. Our center is always glad to have interns and is open for training, - shared Idil Tabiev.
The Career Marathon ended with a lecture by Albert Latipov, a graduate of the Volga Region University and founder of the Algorithm Author's Health Recovery Studio. Using the example of his company, he told students how to choose the right place of work and what employers pay attention to. He explained the importance of goal-setting when looking for a job and writing a competent resume. The students learned what skills they need to have when looking for a job in the fitness and rehabilitation industry. They were interested in the unusual method of individualized work with clients in the studio and wanted to visit the company as part of the tour.
