The project of the inclusive family club ‘Our Health’ resumed classes for children with mental disabilities. College students of the Volga Region University together with the Tatarstan branch of the Special Olympics of Russia took part in the project and held a physical fitness and sports event. With grant support from Rustam Minnikhanov, Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan, the students held masterclasses in football, floorball, dance and neurogymnastics.
College students also started training at the ‘School of Tutoring’, where they receive theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of adaptive physical culture - how to accompany persons with disabilities at events, how to interact with children and parents.
‘For many of the guys, the meeting with special children was the first, but despite this, the holiday was positive. The students did a great job and even made friends with the participants, who are looking forward to meeting again,’ said Nikita Tsukhlov, a college teacher at Volga Region University and project specialist.
