Swimmers from the Student National Team Training Centre of the Volga Region University of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism took part in the Volga Federal District Championship held in Penza.

17 students of the university represented the Republic of Tatarstan in the interregional competition. Six medals were won as a result of the team's performance:

Irina Zlobina was first in the 4 x 100m freestyle and second in the 4 x 100m medley. Irina Krasilnikova also achieved a great result and was the winner in the 4 x 100 m freestyle. Angelina Kornilova took second place in the 4 x 200m freestyle. Olesya Korchagina was third in the 50m freestyle. Dina Kiramova took part in the 4 x 100m medley and won a silver medal.

Five swimmers from the team qualified for the Russian Championships to be held in Kazan on April 16-22.
