The next meeting of the Association for the Promotion of Digital Development was held today with the participation of Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. The event was held at the Kazan State Power Engineering University. The rector of the Volga Region University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism Rafis Burganov took part in the meeting.
Welcoming the participants of the meeting of the Association for the Promotion of Digital Development, Rustam Minnikhanov noted that such events contribute to an objective analysis of the current problems of the functioning of the scientific and educational complex of the republic and the implementation of the most important initiatives for its further development.
“As the President of the country Vladimir Putin noted at a recent meeting of the Council for Science and Education, in order to gain technological independence, the domestic economy is in dire need of “its own developments that are in demand right now…”. The time when it was possible to do research for the sake of research, regardless of the prospects for the practical application of their results, is irretrievably gone,” Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized.
“Recently, we celebrated the Day of Russian Science and made sure that the new knowledge and technologies created by our scientists correspond to the world level in a number of areas. However, despite the successes, some of the most important scientific and technical results remain on paper, not reaching the stage of mass production,” Rustam Minnikhanov drew the attention of the participants.
He cited official data showing that only 12% of companies in the real sector of the domestic economy are among the innovative ones. This indicates its critically low susceptibility to innovation, Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized.
“Today, the task of ensuring the technological sovereignty of Russia is again becoming the most important for the further development of the country. To do this, we have powerful scientific and engineering schools that have been created over decades. However, only the competencies of commercialization of the results of scientific and technical activities are sorely lacking. That is why, among all the strategic initiatives for the socio-economic development of the country, the “Platform of University Technological Entrepreneurship” is of particular interest to our country and its regions. The effective use of this development tool will bring the work on the formation of entrepreneurial skills among students, scientific and pedagogical workers to a new level. Last year, our universities achieved some success in this direction,” Rustam Minnikhanov said.
He recalled that 129 projects from Tatarstan were recognized as winners of the Student Startup contest. Thanks to this work, the higher school of the republic has taken an important step towards the formation of the “University 3.0” model.
“The world's leading universities have already completed this transformation, we should also speed up the work,” said Rustam Minnikhanov. - The topic of today's meeting is extremely relevant. I expect active work from all of you and visible results in the near future.”
