The swimmers of the Volga Region University of Sports and Tourism became the winner of the championship of the Republic of Tatarstan in swimming in the team event. In addition, students of the sports university scored 23 medals in individual and relay heats, replenishing the team's treasury with 10 gold, 6 silver and 7 bronze medals.
Irina Zlobina won the 100m freestyle and took second place in the 50m backstroke and third in the 50m freestyle. Irina Krasilnikova won three bronze medals - 100m and 200m backstroke, 200m individual medley. Dina Kiramova, won the 50m butterfly, 50m backstroke and 100m backstroke. Angelina Kornilova won a gold medal in the 400m freestyle, a silver medal in the 200m freestyle, and a bronze medal in the 800m freestyle.
Egor Shabalin took second place in the 800m freestyle. Dmitry Balandin finished third in the 100m backstroke.
In relay swimming among women, the Volga University team won the 4 x 100 m freestyle - Irina Zlobina, Dina Kiramova, Angelina Kornilova, Irina Krasilnikova, the 4 x 200 m freestyle - Irina Zlobina, Dina Kiramova, Angelina Kornilova, Irina Krasilnikova, and 4 x 100 m individual medley - Dina Kiramova, Arina Ryabova, Irina Krasilnikova, Irina Zlobina.
In relay swimming among men, the university team became the best in the 4 x 200 m freestyle - Timur Itkulov, Dmitry Cherkasov, Egor Shabalin, Sergey Minko, the second in the 4 x 100 m freestyle relay - Dmitry Cherkasov, Dmitry Salamashko, Ilya Ryzhenkov, Timur Itkulov, and third in 4 x 100m medley - Dmitry Balandin, Marat Ganiev, Dmitry Cherkasov, Timur Itkulov.
The sports university team has qualified for the championship of the Volga Federal District, which will be held at the end of March in Penza.
