Today, February 10, the Gymnastics Centre, one of the facilities of the Volga Region University of Sport and Tourism, hosted the Volga Federal District Championship which was the qualification round for the Russian Championship.
As we earlier reported, the national team of the Republic of Tatarstan took silver in the team standings on the first day of the competitions. The national team included two freshmen of the University of Sport, Yulia Khorosh and Yulia Nikolaeva. Apart from that Yuliya Nikolayeva took the second spot on the podium in the final of the individual all-around competition.
The girls showed no less outstanding results in the finals of the individual events. Yulia Nikolayeva snatched two gold medals on floor exercise and vault, as well as a silver on uneven bars. Ksenia Kuzmicheva, another first year student of the Sport Gymnastics specialisation, took two bronze medals - in floor exercise and uneven bars.
