The Gymnastics Center launched the competitions of the 1st All-Russian Spartakiad among the strongest athletes in artistic gymnastics.
The opening of the tournament began with a moment of silence in memory of those killed in the Izhevsk school. First Deputy Minister of Sports of the Republic of Tatarstan Khalil Shaikhutdinov, President of the Artistic Gymnastics Federation of Tatarstan Marat Bariev and head coach of the Russian national gymnastics teams Valentina Rodionenko delivered welcoming speeches.
The competition, which will last until October 1 in Kazan, will be attended by 234 athletes from 54 regions of the country. Among them are the winners of the Olympic Games in Tokyo: Angelina Melnikova, Vladislava Urazova, Victoria Listunova, Nikita Nagorny, Artur Dalaloyan, David Belyavsky and Denis Ablyazin.
The program of the first day included all-around among men's teams. Students of the Volga Region University Ivan Antonikhin and Stanislav Isaev, who were included in the national team of the Republic of Tatarstan, became bronze medalists of the tournament. The team from Moscow took the first place, the team from the Vladimir region took the second place.
Tomorrow, the team all-around among women's teams will be held at the Gymnastics Center.
