Grigory Tarasevich, a master's student at the Volga Region University of Sports and Tourism, joined the Russian national team for the Olympic Games in Tokyo. The decision to include the Tatarstan swimmer in the national team was announced at the Presidium of the All-Russian Swimming Federation. Grigory will compete in the 200-meter backstroke. 

The athlete fulfilled the Olympic standard at the European Championships in Budapest. Together with Tarasevich, Tatarstan citizens Veronika Andrusenko and Alexander Krasnykh will go to the Games, the press service of the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Tatarstan reports.

On his Instagram page, Grigory thanked everyone for their support. "I'm going to Tokyo! Thank you to everyone who supported me and supported me in difficult moments, " the athlete wrote. - I am very happy to be a part of such a friendly and fun team as our national swimming team. This opportunity came to me thanks to many people: my parents and relatives, friends, coaches, massage therapists, and even rivals. Special thanks to the Ministry of Sports of Tatarstan and the All-Russian Swimming Federation for their support in the preparation and the opportunity to conduct training camps."

Swimming competitions at the Olympic Games in Tokyo will be held from July 24 to August 1.
