Two students of the Volga Region University of Sports and Tourism as part of the shooting team of the country rose to the highest step of the podium of the European Championship in bench and bullet shooting.
First-year students Polina Knyazeva and Alina Akhatova together with Serafima Tarasenko won the team "ladder" among juniors. In qualifying, the Russians lost to the Italians, who updated the European junior record (478/525). But in the final, our girls took revenge on them, winning with a score of 6: 2.
"We have been preparing for this start for a long time and the Italian record did not scare us at the finish," admits Polina Knyazeva. - The result is reset to zero for all participants of the final, so we shot "from scratch". We could not lose, knowing that we represent Russia at the European Championship. It was a strong motivation for us."
The competition was held in the Croatian city of Osijek. Tatarstan shooters won a record 15 medals here, including 7 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze awards.
