The first ever Russian Rugby-7 championship among women's student teams was held on November 7-8 in Kazan. The competition under the auspices of the Russian student Union gathered eight participating teams from Dagestan, Perm, Yoshkar-Ola, Pskov, Krasnoyarsk and Kuban in the capital of Tatarstan. Kazan was represented by the Vice-champion of the Student Rugby League of the Republic of Tatarstan, the national team of knitu-KAI named after A. N. Tupolev and the team of the Volga Academy-the bronze medalist of the all-Russian summer Universiade in 2020 and the acting winner of the Student Rugby League of the Republic.
Unfortunately, the "academicians" were eliminated from the competition for prizes at the end of the group tournament. The girls managed to win over the team of the Krasnoyarsk pedagogical University (33: 0), but they lost to the representatives of the Perm national research University (0:45) and colleagues from the Kuban University of physical culture, sports and tourism (24:10). In the fight for 5-7 places, our Rugby players defeated the team of Pskov state University with a score of 34: 5, and then again beat the girls from Krasnoyarsk with a score of 17:12. Thus, completing the "top five" of the best teams.
Unfortunately, several leading players were injured in the games, including the captain of the team" academicians " Anastasia Solovyova and Regina Gaisina.
The top three was determined on the second day of the tournament. The team of Dagestan pedagogical University from Makhachkala, the winner of this year's all - Russian summer Universiade, confirmed its leadership. With a score of 33:14, they finished the final meeting with the team of Perm national research University. The girls of the Kuban University of physical culture, sports and tourism who won the team of the Volga technological University (36:5) won bronze awards.
