The Russian Ministry of sports has approved a new procedure for assigning qualification categories to sports coaches. According to the law, there are only three of them: the first, second and highest. Comments on the innovation, who does not leave his coaching craft, Dean of the faculty of correspondence education of the Volga Academy, Professor of the Department of theory and methodology of martial arts Oleg Solomakhin:


- This question is very important for coaches, because the category affects the amount of remuneration. Previously, the certification was carried out by the Ministry of education and Science of the Russian Federation. I myself, as a coach, went through this procedure in 2016. And now that the Russian sports Ministry has confirmed that it recognizes the legitimacy of the previously issued documents, many people - including me-have breathed a sigh of relief. You can continue working with them. The established procedure allows the coach to get the second category in a year, regardless of the length of work in the organization. For example, after getting a job at a sports school and completing all the necessary requirements, a young specialist will immediately be able to submit documents! Experts will also be pleased with the fact that all the necessary documents can be provided in electronic form, rather than bringing them in person. This is very convenient!


The next point, prescribed in the regulations, will be evaluated by coaches with experience. It concerns personal attendance at the meeting of the certification Commission and the evaluation process itself. Previously, this procedure largely reflected the theoretical approach – questions were asked, mainly, about the methodology of the training process. Now the focus is on the results of work and the coach must first of all present in a documentary form their achievements and the achievements of their wards, which make up the necessary amount of points for assigning the category. According to the new rules, to get a category, a specialist needs to score enough points. For the highest category, you need 1000 points, for the first – 700, and for the second – 300. In total, the table contains 12 points, mainly taking into account the results. Just work! 


In addition, the order allows for material incentives (salary increases) for coaches, depending on the assigned category. At the same time, the amount of the surcharge is determined by the subjects of the Russian Federation in their normative legal acts." It's up to the regions.
