The winners of the student competitions in athletics in the standings of the Games of universities of the Republic of Tatarstan and the traditional may relay were students of the Volga sports Academy.
The competitions were held on may 6-7 at the Central stadium. The team of the Volga region Academy in the team standings in the final table took first place, significantly ahead of the nearest competitor – the CFU team. "Academicians", who played in the first group, scored 18331 points in total, almost two thousand points more than rivals.
The greatest number of points in the Treasury of the team brought Gennady Egorov, who won the race at 2000 meters with obstacles and finished second at 800-meter, Inna Puzik won at distances of 200 and 400 meters. Two gold medals on the account of Kirill Dyatlov, the fastest ran 1500 and 5000 meters (at a distance of 1, 5 thousand meters from the "academicians" in the asset is also Anton tingaev's silver). Albina Gadelshina was the first in the race at distances of 800 and 1500 meters. Albert Gazizov won the race at 400 meters (second place went to "academic" Paul Timakov) and was third in the 200m freestyle.
With the victory of "academics" and ended the men's and women's 4X100 relay races.  Evgeny Ermakov won the competition in high jump. Bulat Hamidullin showed the best result in discus throwing, Danil Alekhanov in this discipline "silver". But in the shot put Bulat and Danil changed places on the pedestal.  Lydia Rogova ran the fastest 5000 meters, Ulyana Serova won the race for 100 meters with barriers.
In the 100m women Olga Kalinina Anastasiya Mokhova and showed second and third, respectively. Silver added in a moneybox of the national team of the Academy Olga Kalinina in the 200m freestyle and Ekaterina Belyaeva in the 400 metres. The second result in the 400-meter hurdles race was shown by Artem Rubtsov.  Julia Nizamutdinova in running at 800 meters "bronze" and "silver" at 1500 meters. Sofia Miroshnichenko won the silver medal in the high jump. Bronze medals were won by Vyacheslav Catenin in the 100m and Dinar Muzarapov in the javelin.
Well, on may 8 at the Central stadium was held the traditional 78th may relay race for the prizes of the newspaper "Republic of Tatarstan". Here, the athletes-the"academics" didn't leave chances to rivals from KFU, confidently won the race with a score of 4.10,36. Another Academy team (all University performed at the competition three teams) took fourth place.   
Traditionally, the Volga region Academy was impressively represented at both athletics tournaments in the judiciary. In particular, the head of the Department of cyclic sports Sergey Pavlov became the chief judge of the Games of universities of the RT, and the team of judges at the relay was headed by the teacher of the Department Sergey Borovik.
