Student of the Volga region Academy of sports grandmaster Vladislav Artemyev won the European chess championship, which was held in Skopje (Northern Macedonia), and won a ticket to the world Cup.
In the final, 11th round Artemyev black figures played a draw with Israeli Maxim Rodshtein and scored 8.5 points. The same number after 11 rounds was the Swede Nils Grandelius. But the Russian chess player was ahead of him in additional indicators.
A total of 358 chess players took part in the tournament with a prize Fund of 100 thousand euros. 22 best won tickets to the world Cup, which will be held in Khanty-Mansiysk from September 9 to October 2. Together with Artemyev five more Russian chess players will take part in the world Cup: Grigory Oparin, Andrey Esipenko, Nikita Petrov, Alexander Predke and Alexander Rakhmanov.
