The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan held a briefing on the results of Tatarstan athletes ' performances at the XXIX world winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk.
Minister of sports of the Republic Vladimir Leonov spoke about the contribution to the medal Treasury of the national team of athletes who presented at the competitions of Tatarstan:
- On account of our athletes 8 medals-4 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medal. This is a great common achievement of all sports Tatarstan-athletes, coaches, national sports federations, our educational institutions. The Minister especially noted that many Tatarstan medalists are students of the Volga region Academy, and the success of the four-time medalist of the Universiade 2019 skier Yana Kirpichenko generally called "the personal success of the rector Yusup Yakubov".
Touching upon the topic of universities, the Minister noted the role of the Volga region Academy in the development of sports in the country:
 - I would like to emphasize on the example of the sports delegation from Tatarstan that in our region all conditions are created to ensure that athletes, undergoing training in the sports school system, in the future have the opportunity in addition to the development of his professional sports career to continue their training, educational process. Of the 3,000 students of the Volga region Academy of sports, more than 300 people are members of our national teams in sports, about 150 more are members of the national teams of Russia," the Minister added.
Rector Yusup Yakubov told about the importance of participation in the Universiade for University students:
"We are interested in the development of student sports, our students are represented at competitions of all levels – national, national, international sports competitions and tournaments. It is pleasant that our guys are leaders in many disciplines at the level of Russia. And the events of the Universiade level, of course, bring the culture of big sports to the student environment. For some students it is a springboard to the big sport, an important stage of training.
Of the 19 sports in which the Academy is now under way to train trainers, only 3 of the winter. But this list is expanding every year. The Universiade is also important from the point of view of the formation of a future specialist - an employee of the sphere of physical culture and sports, a future coach or judge – it gives professional experience, expands professional competence," Yusup Digansheevich said in his speech.
