The team of the Volga region Academy took the second place in the team tournament held from 10 to 13 may in the sports complex KAI "Olimp" Boxing competitions among students, the results of which were in the standings of the sports Games of universities of the RT.  In total, academicians have won nine awards of various merits.
The tournament was attended by 73 athletes. The teams of 10 universities were rivals of the Volga region Academy. In total on tournament medals in 10 weight categories were played. 10 athletes (plus two reservists), acting in seven weight categories took part in competitions as a part of the national team of our University. In addition, the Academy delegated three referees to the tournament: Anna Galimov, Denis Skvortsov and Abumalik Nazarov. As coach of Volga Academy Arthur Barajev was appointed the main judge of the competition.
Unfortunately, in the weight category up to 81 kg, "academician" Hamza Suleymanov did not pass the official weigh-in and was disqualified on the first day of the competition. Of the nine who joined the fight for the awards of "academicians" to the finals reached six (and, in two finals, both contenders for the victory represented our University).
In the end, won gold medals in the competition were students Patchset Timothy Jafarov (60 kg) and Ilmir Nurullin (up to 64 kg) that caused in the "academic" finals defeat Emil Akhmedzyanova and Ronaldo Hubenova. The losers, respectively, brought to the Treasury of the Academy "silver".
Two more of our finalists lost in the decisive battle. Igor Tsaregorodtsev, Igor (to 49 kg) - a split decision Shamil Kutlubaev (ksuae) and Ilnur Ilnur Nuriev (to 69 kg) - Akim Nabiullina (kspeu), refusing to fight against the cause of the disease. Both became silver prize-winners of the tournament.
Three boxers of the Volga region Academy conceded in semi-final fights and became owners of bronze medals. Denis Degtyarev (up to 52 kg) in equal battle lost to the winner of the tournament Rusmoto Umarov from Kazan state technological University, Alexey Alexey Egorenkov (75 kg) in the hardest duel I conceded to Dmitry Demidov (ksuae), and Andrew Davidov (up to 91 kg) – Anton Zaitsev (KFU).
After the competition, Arthur Barachel summarized the performance of the national team of Volga region Academy of:   
- We took second place for the first time in a long time, and I think this is an excellent result. Especially given the fact that we have only last year opened a Boxing Department. And once – "silver". And, with a lag from winners only on two points. Alas, if my student won (Igor Tsaregorodtsev, approx. auth.) the first final match, we would be the winners. But Igor almost finished in the third round, spend it is this part brighter, the victory went to him. I am sure that next year we will perform better, as most of our boxers are freshmen, and will continue to play for the Academy in the coming years.
