Rector of the Volga Region University of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism Rafis Burganov got acquainted with the course of repair works at the facilities of the university today. A working group headed by the Rector visited the Rowing Centre and the Aquatics Palace.
This year more than 200 million were spent to repair and upgrade the sports equipment of the two university sports venues.
Currently, the repairs of the roof, main staircases, permanent roof (stylobate), cooling system, locker rooms and showers of the competition pool, floor covering of spectator tribunes of the competition pool as well as the repair of water treatment system and automatic station for measuring ozone have been completed at the Aquatics Palace. Uninterruptible power supplies and street lighting fixtures were replaced during the renovation work. Work continues on the repair of the hot and cold water supply system, the façade of the building with the replacement of double-glazed windows and the locker rooms and showers of the diving pool.
At the Rowing Centre, the renovation of the video surveillance system and the building's emergency warning system was completed. In the rowing pool building, the builders completed the renovation of the locker rooms and showers and made cosmetic repairs to the corridors with the replacement of the doors. The reconstruction of the entrance area is in progress.
Repair works are being carried out at the Regatta Hotel as well: the rooms, WCs, balconies, canteen, entrances and facade are being renovated.
Rector Rafis Burganov inspected the work in detail and gave an instruction to complete the work on time.
"This year we are completing a huge programme worth over 200 million US dollars to overhaul facilities. More than half of them are aimed at repairing the Aquatics Palace. The most important thing is that we've managed to replace what was already partially in disrepair. Everything is done for the students and for the population," said the rector.
