January ended on the courts of one of sports objects of the Volga region state Academy Centre badminton – championship of Russia among students. Competition in the individual and team competitions were held under the auspices of the Russian student sports Union. Among the participants students-badminton players 11 Russian higher educational institutions.
The winner among the teams were students of Volga region state Academy of physical culture, sport and tourism. In the final, the first team of "academics" beat the students of Novgorod state University. N. And. Lobachevsky. The decisive point team of the University brought the Duo of Anatoliy Yartsev and Evgeniya Kosecki. The owner of bronze awards were representatives of Ural Federal University. B. N. Yeltsin and Gzhel state University. The second team of the Academy according to the results of the team tournament was the fifth, dividing it with the team of Kazan Federal University.  
Personal tournament in singles, doubles and mixed discharges allowed representatives of the Volga region Academy to add to his piggy Bank for another 12 awards. In the men's singles was the leader Alexander'kin, a bronze medal was won by Amir Khamidullin. Mikheil Gelashvili paired with Egor Cherkasy won the silver medal in the mens doubles. Two more bronze medals on account of mixed doubles Cherkasy/Alexander Semenov and Gelashvili/Alina Romanko. Alina, in addition, won a bronze medal in the women's singles category. 
"Our student team wins first Russian student championship, - says the chief judge of competitions, the senior lecturer of the Department of theory and methods of tennis and badminton Volga region Academy Alfred Samigullin. – Until now we do something all the time bothered to climb the highest step of the podium. This time the Academy was represented by two teams, which is also very good. So, gradually formed a decent reserve. In addition, the competition as judges served 17 of our students. "Run-in" they are gone, now they have the judging at the championship of Europe on badminton which will pass in Kazan from 13 to 18 February at the other sports facilities of our University – at the gymnastics Centre. Here, the leader of Russian national team, our students Kosecka Eugene and Anatoliy Yartsev. Pupils of sport school, opened last year in the badminton Center, Lenar Zalilov (Muslyumovo) and Denis Vasin (Alekseevskoe) will represent Tatarstan in the Russian Junior team. With them already not the first year working trainers of the national team of the Republic, in particular, the teacher of our Department Igor Nazarov, and experts of higher educational and scientific center of training of sports reserve. I hope all the guys will be able to show good results".
