The Institute of Sport of FSBEI HE "Volga Region GUFKSiT" is an educational and scientific structural subdivision of the University, implementing educational programmes of higher education.
The Institute was established on the first September 2021 by the decision of the Academic Council on the basis of the Faculty of Sport (year of foundation-2014).
Currently the Institute is headed by Robert Bikmukhametov.
The Institute unites eight departments, including: Department of Theory and Methodology of Aquatics, Department of Theory and Methodology of Volleyball and Basketball, Department of Theory and Methodology of Gymnastics, Department of Theory and Methodology of Combat Sports, Department of Theory and Methodology of Athletics and Rowing, Department of Theory and Methodology of Skiing, Department of Theory and Methodology of Tennis and Badminton, Department of Theory and Methodology of Football, Department of Theory and Methodology of Hockey.
The Institute implements a comprehensive system of graduate training, which includes Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes.
Professional training within the framework of Bachelor's degree programmes includes providing students with special knowledge in the field of physical education and sport.
Bachelor's degree programmes are aimed not only at deep mastering of fundamental scientific disciplines, but also at developing students' teamwork skills, including leadership skills, the ability to set goals and find adequate and effective means of achieving them.
An integral part of the educational process in all areas of training is practice, during which students acquire skills of practical work in their chosen profession, develop skills of organisational activity, master the experience of teamwork. Students of the Institute undergo practical training in: general education and sports schools of Kazan, as well as in the territory of the Republic and abroad.
Graduates of the Institute are in demand and work in all spheres of the industry as coaches of sports (sports schools, sports clubs, children's and youth sports clubs, national teams); teachers of physical education of secondary schools; organisers and managers in the field of physical education and sports (directors of sports schools, employees of sports committees, sports federations) and others.
Student life is actively developing at the Institute: competitions in more than 25 sports are organised. The Institute is proud of its graduates who have made a great contribution to the development of physical culture and sports. Among them: Victor Poletaev, Irina Voronkova, Nikita Shleicher, Andrey Larkov, Grigory Tarasevich and others.
In its activity the Institute is oriented on satisfaction of personnel demands of economy, science and society; modern requirements to practical application of professional knowledge and skills.
