The Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism is recognised as the base organisation in the field of student sports in the CIS.
The basic organisation of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States in the field of physical culture and sport shall be established in order to improve educational and methodological, expert-analytical and personnel support of activities in the field of physical culture and sport of the CIS member states, taking into account the needs of integration interaction of the CIS member states.
The areas of activity of the Base Organisation are:
- facilitating the exchange of information on experience, innovations, methodological and personnel support used by educational organisations in the field of training, - professional retraining and advanced training of personnel in the sphere of physical culture and sport of the CIS member states;
- provision of advisory assistance on the development of physical culture and sport and preparation of relevant conclusions and proposals;
- training, professional retraining and advanced training of scientific, pedagogical and managerial personnel in the sphere of physical culture and sport, training of personnel of higher qualification;
- preparation, in co-operation with interested institutions of higher, secondary vocational and additional vocational education of CIS member states, of recommendations and draft documents promoting co-operation in the field of physical culture and sport;
- organising international conferences, seminars and symposia on the problems of improving the quality of education in the field of physical culture and sport, as well as scientific and methodological support of physical culture and sport activities;
- assistance in organising joint physical culture and sports events of the CIS member states.
