First Deputy Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation Azat Kadyrov and Vice-Rector for Research and International Activities Andrey Nazarenko familiarised the Minister of Education of the United Arab Emirates Ahmad Al-Falasi with the capabilities of the Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The guest was shown the material and technical equipment of one of the leading sports universities in Russia, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. In particular, the representative of the United Arab Emirates was presented with educational, cultural, training, scientific and sports halls. The minister visited the Museum of the 2013 World Summer Universiade, the Information Resource Centre, and got acquainted with the digital technologies of the sports university.
It is worth noting that the multimedia and sound equipment in the teaching and laboratory building of Volga Region University makes it possible to conduct classes via videoconferencing. SmartPodium electronic whiteboards have been installed, classrooms are equipped with a document camera, 4 language laboratories have been created, lectures can be broadcast online from classrooms, seats in the concert hall are equipped with a simultaneous translation system.
The Minister of Education of the United Arab Emirates was particularly interested in the organisation of the educational process, areas of study, and the peculiarities of the scientific base. Mr Ahmad Al-Falasi got acquainted with the activities of the Research Institute of Volga University, visited the laboratories of the research institute.
"Today our university is one of the leading sports universities in Russia, the material and technical base of the 2013 World Summer Universiade legacy allows us to maintain our position as an international sports centre, which hosts landmark competitions and attracts the best athletes from Russia, CIS and non-CIS countries. Due to the integration of high quality education and scientific research, methodological work, powerful infrastructure and sports training, the university is an educational, scientific and expert-analytical platform for training personnel in the sphere of physical culture, sports and tourism. Today the university includes 6 institutes, 18 departments and 47 training programmes (secondary, bachelor's, master's, postgraduate)", - said Andrey Nazarenko.
