An agreement on cooperation in the field of education and science between the Volga Region University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism and Chengdu Sports University (China) was signed today, September 27, by the heads of universities Rafis Burganov and PAN Xiaofei.
The signing ceremony, which took place online, was also attended by the first vice-rector of the Volga Region University Azat Sharapov, the vice-rector for scientific work and international activities Andrei Nazarenko from the Russian side and the president of Chengdu Sports University Pan Xiaofei, vice-president Li Lin, secretary of the Russian-Chinese Foundation for the Development of Culture, Education and Technology Cui Fan, Dean of the Graduate School Wang Mingjian, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs Ma Zhi, Director of the International Office/Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages Li Zaihui from the Chinese side.
Within the framework of the agreement it is planned to organise joint educational and scientific projects, in particular, to develop and launch programmes of higher education, supplementary education, additional professional education and scientific programmes in the field of physical culture, sports, tourism and hospitality. In addition, there are plans to conduct scientific research in the above-mentioned areas, as well as in innovation activities. International educational, research and scientific-technical projects, congresses, conferences, etc. are also planned.
According to Rafis Burganov, Rector of the Volga Region University, this will strengthen partnership relations between the countries and train even more competent specialists in demand in the field of physical culture, sports and hospitality.
"We express great satisfaction with the signing of today's agreement. We are very grateful to the People's Republic of China for its assistance in preparing for the 2013 World University Games. Our colleagues from Shenzhen have passed on a great experience to us," said the Rector of Volga Region University.
For his part, Xiaofei Pan, president of Chengdu Sports University, said that China is now strengthening co-operation and friendship with Russia.
"This is of great significance. I am sure that through our cooperation we can improve the quality of education, strengthen friendship between our countries and universities. I hope for success," said the representative of the Chinese side.
