As part of his working visit to Kazan, Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev visited the Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism, a subordinate institution of the Ministry of Sport.
At the university, he met with Russian athletes. He learnt about their training conditions, wished them success in competitions and congratulated them on the Day of Russia.
During Mikhail Degtyarev's visit, Rector of the Volga Region University Rafis Burganov familiarised the Minister with the university infrastructure. He inspected educational, cultural, scientific, sports halls.
"Our pride", - this is how the Minister of Sport of the country referred to the university in his telegram channel.
During the visit he evaluated the capacities of the medical and sanitary part of the Research Institute of Physical Culture and Sport. Specialists here not only diagnose the athletes' problems, but also successfully cope with them thanks to modern equipment.
The Minister also personally assessed the readiness of the Rowing Centre for the BRICS Games. The Centre, as well as other sports facilities, was renovated for the competition: academic boats, catamarans, simulators, starting systems were purchased, and a new course was installed.
Within the framework of the working visit the Minister paid tribute to Dmitry Usov, a graduate of the university who died in Ukraine - there was a laying of flowers at the memorial to the hero. Dmitry was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage by the Decree of the President of Russia for his courage and heroism.
