The Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism has become the base organisation in the Commonwealth of Independent States in the field of university sports. The decision was signed on 12 April at a meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers in Minsk and posted on the website of the CIS executive committee.
"Determination of this base organisation is provided by the Strategy for the development of cooperation between the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States in the field of physical culture and sport for 2021-2030 and is aimed at implementing the task of developing university sport as a base for training the sports reserve of the CIS countries. Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism provides quality physical culture, sports and tourism education according to modern international standards. Specialists are trained using innovative methods. The university has a developed infrastructure, modern classrooms and laboratories, high-tech sports facilities," the document says.
Apart from the Volga State University, the Russian State University of Justice also received the status of the basic ones in the field of training, retraining and advanced training of personnel for judicial systems and the Research Institute of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus in the field of research of military security problems.
