Heroes of the Fatherland Day will be celebrated in Russia on 9 December - on the eve of the holiday, students of Volga Region University met with cosmonauts, scouts, military pilots and a lieutenant general of justice.

Konstantin Kozhevnikov, Lieutenant General of Justice, told how he combined his work as a prosecutor with sports and shared his experience of organising sports events.

- During his service, he changed several cities, and in each city he organised the ‘Law and Order Cup’ in football. In total, I organised 380 competitions for children and veterans. I believe that if every courtyard has a sports ground, the level of juvenile delinquency will decrease, - said Konstantin Kozhevnikov. - Now I am developing the sports industry in Kaluga. In two years we have built a sports park, which hosts all-Russian competitions and a children's sports school for tennis, badminton and football. It is a pleasure to watch children happily visit the new facilities and enjoy playing sports.

In auditorium A107, the students talked to Soviet and Russian cosmonauts - Hero of Belarus Marina Vasilevskaya, Hero of the Russian Federation Oleg Novitsky, twice Hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Ivanchenkov and test cosmonaut of the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre Valery Tokarev came to the meeting in the format of a free discussion. The speakers paid special attention to healthy lifestyle and sports.

- At best, one out of ten applicants can pass the medical commission. Weightlessness has a detrimental effect on the body, so it's important not to forget about movement,’ added Alexander Ivanchenkov's wife, who has devoted her life to medicine. - I like to remember Aristotle's phrase that life is movement. It is important to understand this both in space and on Earth.

Veterans of foreign intelligence Igor Petrakov, Alexander Trusov and Vladimir Shutov met with students in the Information Resource Centre, where they discussed with students the current situation in the world and paid special attention to the countries of the Middle East, as well as noted the need to learn foreign languages.

- Intelligence does not tolerate pessimism - we try to find the good in everything and look positively at the outside world. Our work is carried out under the motto ‘For the glory of the fatherland without the right to glory’,’ said Igor Petrakov.
