The annual educational campaign “Total Dictant” was held all over the country, which is aimed at increasing interest in learning the Russian language. This year Povolzhsky University became an open platform for the action - 61 participants came to check their literacy level regardless of age and profession.
The text was dictated by Oksana Romanova, a journalist of the Tatar-Inform news agency, and Marina Rozhdestvenskaya, a Kazan blogger and the speaker of the Total Dictation in 2023 and 2024. Her loyal subscribers also decided to test their knowledge at the Volga Region University.
The Department of Foreign Languages and Linguistics was responsible for holding the educational event and checking the works at Volga University. The head of the department Zoya Pavitskaya noted that the dictators liked the university very much - they were impressed by the innovativeness and technology of the university of sports.
- We paid special attention to the motivation and love of the participants to study their native language, rather than mass participation. After all, the language opens new horizons and opportunities,” Zoya Pavitskaya emphasized.
Some students became participants of the action for the first time and decided to try their hand in the walls of their native university.
- I participated in the Total Dictation campaign for the first time. I had heard about it before, but had not shown any interest. But this year I decided to try my hand and check my literacy level. It was interesting to remember my school years, because then I liked to write dictations in class. I remembered a funny video clip in the format of a news release, in which there were actual youth jokes.
The text we wrote was about adventures and reminded me of a children's fairy tale. The dictators were very pleasant to listen to. I think that such actions are very important - they help to keep interest in the language and its culture, - shared her impressions third-year university student of the direction “Tourism” Yulia Khaziakhmetova.
College students of Volga Region University also took part in the action. 30 first-year students wrote a dictation in Kazan's historical park “Russia - My History”. They got acquainted with Marina Moskvina's text “The Road of Swans”, which was dedicated to traveling, love for the Motherland and its boundless expanses. Tatyana Larionova, a deputy of the State Duma of the VIII convocation, was the announcer at this venue for a number of years.
- I am pleased to be a part of such a big project as Total Dictation, in which people from all over the country participate. That is why this year I decided to test my knowledge for the second time, and I hope I will be able to take part in the next one as well. The text was very interesting - it told about travelers in the Arctic who met a polar bear. I believe that thanks to this action, adults who have long graduated from school can easily test their knowledge, - said Alena Muslakhova, a first-year student of the College of Tourism and Hospitality.
