Volga Region University master's students Ramzil Gil'manova and Ranis Abdullin, as well as Institute of Sports undergraduate students Nikol Kolosova, Polina Dudoladova, and Stefania Gorelysheva, successfully presented their papers at the 3rd International Scientific and Practical Conference "The Multifaceted World of Traditional Culture and Folk Art." Aliya Garipova, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages and Linguistics, supervised their preparations.
The event, held at the Kazan State Institute of Culture, brought together researchers from various regions of Russia and the CIS. The wide geographic range of participants allowed for discussion of issues of culture, language, and historical memory, essential for a thorough understanding of the multifaceted nature of cultural heritage.
The main goal of the conference was to expand international cooperation in the study, preservation, and promotion of traditional culture and folk art. The forum not only facilitated scholarly dialogue but also strengthened ties between educational institutions, which will contribute to the development of this field.
Aliya Garipova, the Volga Region University team's academic supervisor, also presented a paper on "Developing Intercultural Competence in Students at a Non-Linguistic University through the Study of Native and Foreign Languages: An Analysis of Experience." In her presentation, she emphasized the importance of intercultural communication in modern education, especially for students who do not major in languages.
Students from the University of Sport presented in the section "Folklore Heritage: Problems of Study, Preservation, and Interpretation." Master's students presented a project on the celebration of Navruz at a sports university, while undergraduate students presented a study on the interaction between art and sport, using synchronized swimming as an example. Their papers demonstrated how traditions and cultural practices influence education, sport, and the development of youth artistic culture.
"This was our first group scientific conference, and we were thrilled to be part of such a significant event," shared undergraduate student Nicole Kolosova. "We wanted to introduce the audience to synchronized swimming, which we practice ourselves. The conference theme, dedicated to artistic creativity, perfectly aligned with our goal of demonstrating how sport and art can interact and enrich each other.
We deliberately chose this theme to highlight the uniqueness of synchronized swimming—a sport that combines artistic creativity and physical activity. We also showed a video of our performance, illustrating its beauty and harmony. It's especially important for us now that this sport develops and becomes more recognized. We believe that synchronized swimming is not just a sport, but an art form that can inspire. We strive to draw attention to it and demonstrate its value to the cultural life of society.
She also noted that the team's impressions of the conference were extremely positive. The students gained a unique experience exchanging ideas and were inspired by new approaches that they plan to use in their future research.
