Igor Yevgenyevich has worked at the university since 1997, initially in the Department of Theory and Methodology of Cyclic Sports; he served as Dean of the Faculty of Adaptive Physical Culture, Service, and Tourism starting in 2009, and as Deputy Director for Research and External Relations at the Naberezhnye Chelny Branch of the Volga Region State Academy of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism (Volga Region Academy) starting in 2011. Since 2013, I.E. Konovalov has worked in the Department of Theory and Methodology of Sports Games at the Volga Region Academy, serving as Head of the Department; since 2018, he has headed the Department of Theory and Methodology of Volleyball and Basketball at the same institution. His total professional experience spans 40 years, with 36 years in the field of education.
Igor Yevgenyevich Konovalov has authored over 860 scientific works, including more than 200 articles in major publications (with over 128 articles in journals on the VAK RF list and 26 articles in journals indexed in the Scopus and Web of Science international databases), 24 monographs, and over 110 educational publications; he is also a co-author of 6 invention patents, 1 utility model patent, and 2 databases. In 2021, 2023, and 2024, he participated in the finals of the All-Russian "Service to Sport" contest (recognizing contributions to the development of physical culture and sports), organized by the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation as part of the National Sports Awards. In 2022, he was nominated for the "Athlete of the Year of the Republic of Tatarstan 2022" award by the Ministry of Sport of the Republic of Tatarstan in the "Service to Sport" category.
