The camp for the children of Volga Region University employees held its first shift and introduced the young participants to physical education and sports. 
Under the leadership of Natalia Grechannikova, Vice-Rector for Administration and Social Development, the camp is held in two shifts. The first one was directed by Gulfiya Gabdulkhaerova, Head of the Testing Centre of the All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Complex GTO at the Volga Region University. She also organised sports tests for the second shift, which took place on 26 July at the Burevestnik Stadium.

‘The children have mastered it so much that we were able to hold not just a sports festival, but a real competition. In the first shift, the children went through the theoretical material, and today they were able to try themselves in practice to fulfil the GTO standards,’ Gulfiya Gabdulhaerova shared. - We divided the children into subgroups by age, and for each of them we prepared individual sports tests based on the TRP standards, taking into account their peculiarities and preferences. The children are very active and agile, so everyone proved to be a real sportsman and fulfilled the standards without any difficulties.

At the Volga University camp, children develop sports skills in various areas, including swimming - three times a week they take classes in the Burevestnik pool with senior coach Dmitry Basin. Children train in groups - from beginners to professionals. Swimming was also included in the GTO standards and some of the participants tested themselves in a timed swim, in which they could choose any style.

‘We taught several kids from scratch not only how to stay on the water, but also how to swim. We are glad that the camp is beneficial for the health and physical well-being of the children. This was possible thanks not only to the management and staff of the university, but also to extracurricular associations, such as ‘Winged Bars’. Every person involved in the process helps in the realisation and development of the idea. People strive for the top - today the guys proved that they are ready to improve to get their insignia,’ Gulfiya Gabdulkhaerova summarised.
