The May Healthy Environment, the last one of this academic year, continued the theme of commemorating the heroes who 80 years ago gave our country a peaceful sky and won the victory in the Great Patriotic War. From the very morning, sports, educational and creative events started at the university's sports facilities and in the teaching and laboratory building.
Throughout the day, the Volga Region University activists gained knowledge and experience at the Tutor School, which was a series of lectures by experts from various fields.
– Tutoring at the university has grown significantly – it affects not only first-year students, but also senior students. A tutor is someone who involves students in student activities, as well as in social, sports and educational activities. I believe that our first event today was held at a high level, – shared the organizer of the Tutor School, representative of the University Tutor Adaptation Center, a student of the Volga Region University Irek Shigapov.
Student Ekaterina Zhilina opened the school with her lecture on the values of a tutor, and Irek Shigapov conducted a number of bonding games. Anna Zhivochenkova, a specialist in youth work and ex-chair of the Student Council of the university dormitory, spoke about the rights and opportunities for students in Povolzhsky, Alexander Zaibert, a psychologist of the university, shared his advice on building communication, and the work of the Students' League was highlighted by its representative, Robert Romanov, a member of the Adaptation of Freshmen of Tatarstan.
One of the brightest events of the day was a concert on ice, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, which was held in the ice palace ‘Zilant’. It featured 40 students of the Figure Skating specialisation under the guidance of the staff of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Football and Hockey - senior lecturer Anna Romanova and lecturer Irina Vasilieva.
- The Great Patriotic War is a terrible page in the history of our country. The students and I felt the pain and courage of the people and expressed our feelings in the concert. In preparation, some students chose the songs to which they wanted to perform - to show their pride for their country and to pay tribute to the memory of the heroes. I would like to thank the university for the opportunity to express our feelings in a dance on ice,’ Anna Romanova said.
She also said that at the concert the students presented all types of figure skating: synchronised and single, dance and sports pairs performed. The concert was attended by representatives of the Figure Skating Federation of the Republic of Tatarstan - President Liron Latypov and Vice-President Damir Rashitov, as well as Olga Moskovskaya, Acting Director of the Republican Sports School of Olympic Reserve for Figure Skating and Short Track Speed Skating. In addition, veterans of sports also attended the event.
Then the School of Mentors was held, where the staff of the Centre for Social and Psychological Monitoring of Deviations raised questions about the organisation of a safe and supportive environment at the university, discussed socio-psychological prevention and correction of deviant behaviour in the youth environment of the university.
Diana Galliamova, Head of the Department for Social and Educational Work of the university, spoke about the summer forum campaign for young people from the Rosmolodezh agency and summarised the results of the Mentor School this academic year.
At the end of the student sports events, the students of the university attended lectures from invited guests, which deepened their knowledge and spiritual intelligence.
The lecture ‘Traditional values as the basis of society’ from the Russian Society ‘Znanie’ was given by Asilyar Gubaidullina, a member of the Youth Parliament of the Republic of Tatarstan, Associate Professor of the Department of Economics and Management at the Tupolev Kazan National Research Technical University. In her speech she discussed with the students the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 809, which considers the concept of ‘traditional values’, as well as their attributes and functions.
- Traditional values are moral guidelines that shape the world outlook of Russian citizens. They are passed on from generation to generation, underpin the all-Russian civil identity and the country's common cultural space, strengthen civil unity, and find their unique and distinctive manifestation in the spiritual, historical and cultural development of the multinational people. We have a large country, with various peoples and confessions living in it. This has influenced the formation of traditions and mentality - friendship and harmony,’ Asilyar Gubaidullina emphasised.
Adilya Fattakhova, Public Assistant to the Chief of Staff of the Anti-Terrorist Commission in the Republic of Tatarstan, gave a lecture ‘Threats in the Modern Digital Space: Cyber Security. Digital Hygiene’. At the lecture, students discussed the rules of safe behaviour on the Internet and social networks, as well as analysed frequently encountered fraudulent schemes.
- It is on the Internet that most fraudulent schemes take place, so it is important to talk to young people about it and share with them the rules of safe online behaviour. Despite the fact that students are aware of most of the dangers on the Internet, they can still become their victims,’ said Adilya Fattakhova.
She emphasised that it is important not to pass on account passwords to third parties and to behave online in a way that will not harm people in the future.
