Lubov Botova, Head of the Department of Gymnastics Theory and Methodology of Volga region University, was part of the delegation that took part in the international courses on artistic gymnastics for judges in the capital of Hungary.
The course was organized by the International Gymnastics Federation FIG, 100 judges from 24 countries took part in it. The program included three days of training and passing the qualification exam, the result of which gives the right to assign levels of international category.
- I am glad to be one of the eight judges from Russia who were able to take part in this course. It is interesting to communicate with foreign referees, to learn the rules in English. It was nice that our course was led by the president of the women's technical committee, Donatella Sacchi from Italy, as well as members of the technical committee: Johanna Gratt from Austria and Kim from Australia. They explained in detail all the nuances of the rules, of which there are a lot in artistic gymnastics. On the fourth day we took an exam, according to the results of which I was able to raise my international category from the fourth to the third. At present, due to the lack of admission to international competitions, Russian judges did not have the necessary set of international competitions that would allow them to obtain a category higher,” shared Lubov Botova.
As noted by the head of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Gymnastics, the international category helps her in the educational process, as the “internationals” have the right to use a specialized training and testing program free of charge. The program includes a lot of useful and visual material, which is also used in the teaching of the discipline “Theory and methodology of teaching acyclic sports: artistic gymnastics” in the Volga Region University. Thanks to this the students get knowledge of international level.
- The FIG Technical Committee does a tremendous job, the fruits of which are available for training and coaching for international category judges. After all, the judge is constantly learning, he is always in the process, in the trend. This ensures a high level of objectivity in a subjective sport,” emphasized Lubov Botova.
