The meeting of the BRICS sports ministers will be held today at the Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism in Kazan. Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev arrived in the capital of Tatarstan the previous day on a working visit.

The Sports Minister started his working Saturday with a bilateral meeting with Gao Zhidan, Head of the General State Administration of Physical Culture and Sports of the People's Republic of China, President of the Olympic Committee of the People's Republic of China. He congratulated the Chinese athletes on their prizes at the BRICS Games, including gold medals in wushu and karate.  

"The talent and skills of Chinese athletes are the pride not only of China, but also of the entire BRICS sports community. Our joint focus in our future work is on preparing a reserve for high-performance sports, sharing experience in the development of different sports, holding joint training camps and competitions," said Mikhail Degtyarev. 


He also held a meeting with Ghanem Mubarak Rashed Al Hajeri, Director General of the General Authority of Sports of the United Arab Emirates. ⠀ 

"It is very important for us to develop co-operation in the field of sports between our states. During his visit to Abu Dhabi, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasised the importance of strengthening this work. Today we have signed an action plan to develop sports co-operation. We are ready to work in the direction of fijital sport, a new unique project. We are always happy to welcome athletes from the United Arab Emirates at competitions held in Russia!", - said the Minister of Sports of the country.

He invited Mr Al-Hajeri to Ufa in October. The annual International Forum "Russia - a Sporting Power" will be held there under the auspices of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
