The Aquatics Palace hosted the inclusive festival "Sea of Possibilities", which was attended by children with mental disabilities from Kazan and Mamadysh. The project is aimed at psychophysical rehabilitation and social adaptation of children with mental disabilities through interaction with peers in an inclusive motor activity environment.
The competition began with warm-up and master classes conducted by volunteer students of Volga Region University and College, and the most exciting part was the swims at distances of 25, 50 and 100 metres.
At the festival, the results of the project were demonstrated and a round table was held to discuss the problems and prospects of introducing inclusive physical culture and sports technologies into the practice of adaptive physical education for children with mental developmental disorders.
More than 50 children with mental disabilities and more than 30 normotypic children took part in the project. During the project, the participants have achieved great success in motor and cognitive spheres of activity, and this is noted not only by coaches, but also by parents.
"Inclusive Swimming: A Sea of Opportunities" is a project that won a competition for grants to non-profit organisations implementing socially significant projects in the municipalities of the Republic of Tatarstan.
