A delegation from the Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Culture and Sport headed by the university's rector Fuad Hajiyev arrived in Kazan on a four-day working visit.
Today, together with Rector of the Volga Region University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism Rafis Burganov, the guests visited the university's facilities: Aquatics Palace, Gymnastics Centre, Burevestnik Pool, Tennis Academy, Badminton Centre, Rowing Centre, including the Research Institute of Physical Culture and Sports and Regata Hotel.
The main purpose of the delegation's visit was to exchange experience. The guests of the republic were able to see the educational, research, training and competition process at the facilities of the university.
The programme began with a visit to the Aquatics Palace. The guests were able to assess the material and technical base of one of the best swimming pools in the country. In addition to the pools themselves, the guests were shown the hotel on the territory of the sports facility, training and gymnastics halls, and were told how the educational process is structured.
"Our facility works not only for students of the Volga Region University, but also for all residents and guests of Kazan. We have two republican schools, we are open to all age groups of the population," said Mikhail Smolkin, director of the sports facility.
At the Gymnastics Centre, during a tour of the facility, Director Natalia Alkaeva told the guests about the conditions under which training takes place and touched upon the scientific approach to the physical fitness of athletes. The guests also visited the Department of Theory and Methodology of Gymnastics, got acquainted with the multimedia equipment in the classrooms. These days in the Gymnastics Centre there is a tournament among junior teams of Russia and China. Within the framework of the visit the rectors of higher education institutions took part in the awarding ceremony of the competition.
In Burevestnik representatives of Azerbaijan's sports university visited the Department of Theory and Methodology of Football and Hockey, the Department of Physical Education and the Department of Theory and Methodology of Aquatic Sports. In addition, the guests familiarised themselves with the work of training, sports, dance halls and swimming pool.
At the Tennis Academy, as well as at the Badminton Centre, the delegation was able to assess the equipment of courts, classrooms and conference hall.
The next points of the business trip were the Rowing Centre, the Research Institute of Physical Education and Sport and the Regata Hotel, which also belong to the Volga Region University's extensive infrastructure.
The guests were familiarised with the improved training facilities for rowers, accommodation for guests, as well as innovative research in the field of sports medicine.
It is worth noting that the Volga Region University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism is the Scientific Centre for Physical Culture and Sports of the Russian Academy of Education, established to implement joint scientific research in pedagogy, psychology and age physiology.
