Oleg Matytsin, Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation, held a working meeting with Ariotejo Ario Bimo Nandito, Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia. The meeting was held at the Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

"Relations between Russia and Indonesia in sports are based on strong traditions of friendship. A vivid example of such relations is the national stadium Gelora Bung Karno in Jakarta, built by Soviet specialists on the likeness of Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium. We are grateful to the Indonesian leadership for the conditions you create for athletes to participate in competitions in your country, such as the international karate tournament in Jakarta. Your support and understanding of our position in excluding any form of discrimination and politicisation of sport is important to us. This is confirmed by the Future Games, which are taking place in Kazan these days - athletes from more than 100 countries are taking part in the sports programme, which confirms the high level of interest in this format of competitions around the world. I am sure that this experience will be of interest to Indonesia as a country with a large number of young people," said Oleg Matytsin.

The Head of the Russian Ministry suggested considering the possibility of concluding a bilateral Memorandum and a two-year cooperation programme, noting the sports of joint interest, as well as student exchange programmes between universities in Russia and Indonesia. Oleg Matytsin also invited Indonesian national teams to take part in upcoming international events in Russia - the BRICS Games in Kazan, the Children of Asia Games, and the World Friendship Games.

Ariotejo Nandito expressed his gratitude for inviting the Indonesian delegation to participate in the Future Games.

"I hope this format will be a source of inspiration for our young generation and will be a great platform to develop social ties and participate in sporting events. We have launched an extensive advertising campaign that gave Indonesian athletes the opportunity to apply for and participate in international competitions such as the Future Games. We know that Russia has a strong school for training athletes, and we hope that the experience of Russian colleagues can be applied in Indonesia," said Ariotejo Nandito.
